Clerk & Comptroller’s office wins statewide wellness award
Commitment to employee health and wellness pays off
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (December 23, 2014) – The Clerk & Comptroller’s office is in better shape than ever! Its Clerks 4 Wellness program has won the 2014 Cigna Well-Being Award, given to workplaces committed to improving the health and wellness of its employees.
Cigna considered 15 employers throughout Florida with an existing workplace wellness program for the Well-Being Award. Employers’ programs were evaluated based on factors such as goals, implementation, incentives and employee participation. The Clerk’s office was one of two employers throughout the state selected to receive the Well-Being Award.
“The health of our employees is top priority,” said Clerk Sharon Bock. “By providing the programs and tools needed to enhance health and well-being, hundreds of our employees are engaging in their own health.”
Reduced absenteeism, improved morale, less stress and potential lower health insurance costs were strong motivators that led to the creation of the Clerks 4 Wellness program five years ago. The program offers nominal cash rewards to employees who are enrolled in the Clerk’s health insurance plan, complete an online health assessment and complete preventive health screenings, such as annual physicals, mammograms, dental cleanings and eye exams.
“These programs benefit not only our staff but also the taxpayer in reduced healthcare costs,” said Clerk Bock.
“Cigna has always been a leader in driving health improvement in the workplace and we commend the Clerk’s office for their commitment to investing in a culture of health,” said Dean Mirabella, Cigna's President and General Manager for Florida.
The Well-Being Award is the latest award received by the Clerks 4 Wellness program this year. Other honors include being one of 47 employers in Palm Beach County to earn the “Platinum Fit Friendly Worksite” distinction from the American Heart Association and being a finalist for the South Florida Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers award.
