CLERK & COMPTROLLER ONE OF SOUTH FLORIDA’S HEALTHIEST WORKPLACES
Office is a finalist for South Florida Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers award
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (June 24, 2014) – The Clerk & Comptroller’s office is committed to encouraging healthier choices for its 750 employees, whether it is encouraging employees to take lunchtime walks or offering incentives for employees who complete preventative health screenings and an online health assessment.
That commitment to employees’ good health is why the South Florida Business Journal recently recognized the Clerk’s office as a finalist for its Healthiest Employers award. The Clerk’s office finished fifth out of 10 companies in the Large Companies category, for businesses with more than 500 employees, at the awards ceremony on June 5 in Fort Lauderdale.
“Healthy employees are happy employees, and vital to the well-being of our organization,” said Clerk Sharon Bock. “Wellness programs such as our Clerks 4 Wellness program are very important, because they educate and empower our employees to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. I appreciate the South Florida Business Journal for recognizing the Clerk’s office and emphasizing wellness programs as an integral part of the workplace.”
The Clerk’s office also recently earned platinum-level status with the American Heart Association as a Fit Friendly Worksite, recognizing the Clerks 4 Wellness program’s work. The Clerk’s office is one of 47 Palm Beach County employers recognized as a Platinum Fit Friendly Worksite.
Other Clerks 4 Wellness program accomplishments include:
- Approximately 42 percent of Clerks employees participated in preventative health screenings, such as annual physicals, eye exams and dental check-ups in 2013
- Creation of a Wellness Champions program, where employees encouraged their colleagues to adopt healthier lifestyles or make better choices for their health
- Employees logged 30,000 miles of exercise through the Frequent Fitness Miles program, which also launched in 2013
