Clerk & Comptroller, Palm Beach County sweep PRSA awards

Programs & publications receive accolades at state and local level

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (August 25, 2015) – The Clerk & Comptroller, Palm Beach County recently received multiple awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) at both the state and local level.

During the PRSA Palm Beach Professional Development Day held on August 21 at the Airport Hilton in West Palm Beach, the Clerk’s office was honored to be recognized for three outstanding public relations programs and products.

  • Product Awards - Annual Reports - 2014-2015 Annual Budget Document
  • Program Awards - Internal Communications - Financial Wellness Campaign
  • Program Awards - Special Events and Observances - Operation Green Light

At the Public Relations Society (PRSA) Sunshine District’s Radiance Awards held earlier this summer in Orlando, the Clerk’s office was recognized for two of its outstanding strategic public relations programs. The statewide awards are among the highest levels of professional achievement.

  • Program Awards - Internal Communications - Financial Wellness Campaign
  • Program Awards - Special Events and Observances - Operation Green Light

“It is an honor to be recognized at both the state and local level for the innovative work we are doing to serve the citizens of Palm Beach County,” said Clerk Sharon Bock. ”Programs like Operation Green Light and our Financial Wellness Campaign are well thought out, comprehensive and have systemic impacts on our customers and our employees.”

Operation Green Light
The Clerk & Comptroller introduced Operation Green Light (OGL), a special one-day program providing easy access for individuals to pay overdue criminal and traffic fines and fees, save money and restore one’s driving privileges. Working with contracted collection agencies, the Clerk was able to have the 40% collection fee waived for this event.

Operation Green Light represented the first time a Clerk’s office, in Florida, has taken on a collections campaign of this magnitude. This inaugural event enabled the Clerk's office to collect more than half a million dollars in a single day and reinstated almost 450 drivers licenses. Due to the success of this pilot program, Operation Green Light went statewide on April 18, 2015, collecting $5.4M, processing 27,000 cases and reinstating or making eligible for reinstatement 9,500 drivers’ licenses.

Financial Wellness Campaign
A comprehensive Financial Wellness Campaign, designed to inform and educate, launched in April of 2014 and continues today. Through the use of targeted emails, eye-catching posters, inspiring presentations and videos, workshops, one-on-one counseling and informational web-sites, the Clerk has been able to help secure the financial future of employees.

2014-2015 Annual Budget Document
Annually, the Clerk & Comptroller’s Budget and Financial Analysis department gathers and organizes information for the Annual Budget Document. The document provides citizens of Palm Beach County with a transparent view on spending and strategies while offering a wealth of information on how the office protects the public’s funds, where funding comes from and how diligently those dollars are spent. The Annual Budget Document is prepared to serve as a financial plan, communication device, operations guide and policy document.
