What is the Court Registry?

The Court Registry holds funds deposited with the Clerk while a legal action is pending with the Court.

  • Registry Deposits:  Most registry deposits are rent payments made during an open eviction case. For all other types of cases, and for eviction cases after they are closed, there must be a court order that directs payment into the court registry.

  • Registry Disbursements:  Regardless of the type of case, the Clerk can only release funds from the registry when there is a written court order giving the Clerk the authority to release the funds.
