Fraudulent Emails Ask for Payment of Citations

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) is warning consumers to be wary of emails asking for payment of traffic citations. These emails are a scam, and recipients should not provide any payment or personal information.

A company representing itself as the DHSMV is emailing consumers and demanding payment for fraudulent citations. The email links to a payment page and claims the recipient's driver's license will be suspended and a late fee applied if payment is not made.

Neither the Clerk's office nor the DHSMV email traffic citations. For more information about the scam, see the DHSMV's complete announcement.

If you think you may have been the victim of a scam, you should contact your local law enforcement agency or the Florida Division of Consumer Services at 800-HELP-FLA (Florida residents) or 850-410-3800 (from outside of Florida).

If you have questions about a traffic citation, please contact our office at 561-355-2996 or clerkweb@mypalmbeachclerk.com.
